Darker Days

A Covid Story

2021

Darker Days emerged during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world—and my own city—came to an eerie standstill. As New York retreated indoors and the familiar rhythms of street life disappeared, I turned my lens inward, focusing on my home and immediate surroundings. This shift from the energetic flow of strangers on sidewalks to the quiet details of domestic life marked a profound change in both my environment and my way of seeing.

In this series, I captured fragments of daily life—a jigsaw puzzle in progress, a stray balloon drifting across the floor, a cat paused in a shaft of light. These seemingly mundane moments held deeper resonance, reflecting the uncertainty, isolation, and longing we were all navigating. Photography became a meditative practice for me—a way to anchor myself in the present and find meaning through observation. By sharing these images, I invite others to see their own reflections in them, to connect through the quiet poetry of our collective solitude.
